With the recent development of the 4th industry that is penetrating into the whole of our lives, the education and research environment at home and abroad is changing rapidly. For example, artificial intelligence (AI) is attracting attention as a technology that will make a big difference compared with other technologies. Accordingly, the possibility of job replacement is increasing rapidly. Although the future cannot be predicted accurately, it is likely that the future will be based on the convergence of various majors rather than being limited to one major.
In response to these trends, three existing departments majoring in Biotechnology, Food Science, and Bioenergy Engineering are merged into one graduate school, creating “Department of Integrative Food, Bioscience and Biotechnology”. This graduate school aims to grow into a global education and research department that leads convergence education and convergence research by establishing a new advanced education system, presenting research methods and strategies appropriate to modern times to set and achieve creative goals.

Future Talent Development
-
Bioenergy Science and TechnologyWe aim to cultivate human resources and the professional manpower required in the bioenergy science and engineering industries. For this, we contribute to education and research for the acquisition of general knowledge and skills in basic and applied studies related to botany, biochemistry, life science, biotechnology, microbiology, which can develop key element technologies in the field of bioenergy for the next generation energy source.
-
Molecular Biotechnology
Biotechnology is defined as "any technological application that uses biological systems, living organisms, or derivatives thereof, to make or modify products or processes for the benefit of human life. It is positioning itself as a cutting-edge science and technology that can solve various challenges faced in humans at various areas including Food, energy, health, resources, and the environment. We aim to contribute to national and human societies by cultivating high-quality human resources who are engaged in cutting-edge science and technology by studying life phenomena at the molecular level.

Food Science and TechnologyWe aim to cultivate human resources who will play a leading role in the food science and engineering field, and provide basic education related to food and also education on academic areas required for the development of new foods and ingredients. Unlike the past, where food was simply a source of nutrition, current food research is expanded with the basic research on bio-regulatory and physiological functions of food stuffs derived from agricultural, livestock, and marine products, which can be applied to pharmaceutical, medicine, and cosmetics industries. In addition, we contribute to education and research on food hygiene and safety-based food research, application of food biotechnology, and development of leading technologies.
